I am having difficulty figuring out how to change the end-of-sentence reference to an in-text reference. I have been doing it manually, but I am hoping to find a more efficient way. For example, if I have the following sentence:
It has been argued that ... using ML methods (Someone et al., 2019)
I want to change it to:
Someone et al. (2019) argued that ... using ML methods.
When choosing a citation style in Mendeley, it uses the first style by default. That's ok as most of my references follow this style. However, some sentences use the latter which I have been modifying manually. Is there a way to accomplish this automatically or more efficiently?

1.Insert citation and keep the cursor on the in-text citation.
2.Now 'insert citation button' will change into 'edit citation'. Click on it.
3.A dialogue box will appear. You click on the citation in the dialogue box.
4. The dialogue box will expand. There you can see suppress author. Check that.
5. If you want, you can add the page number as well.
6.Now click Ok.

Sometimes, you are required to cite using a specific referencing style. You can change the referencing type using Mendeley but with only available “styles” under “referencing” and choosing “more styles…”
I need to change my paper's referencing style from MLA to APA. When I am doing as per your suggested procedure, only the reference list (bibliography) is changing to APA, not the in-text citation.
It is a time consuming job to change all the in text citation manually.
Kindly guide.
