Because of the Al and Mn additions, κ-phase is promoted in the structure. The Al addition promotes the precipitation of the nano‐sized κ‐phase (Fe, Mn)3AlC from the austenite matrix in the Fe–Mn–Al–C austenitic alloys. the κ‐phase is strongly influenced by the aging time and aging temperature, as well as the actual alloy composition. the κ‐phase has higher thermodynamic stability and driving force than that the Fe3C in Fe-Mn-Al-C alloys.
