Most of the time it is stated that reactive power is the circulating power in a given circuit and taking the average reactive power in a given period leads to zero.for this reason it is considered as useless power.but usually reactive power injection is a common practice for low voltage correction.

Reactive power, even if it was not a consumed power, it causes:
- an increase in current which cause heating for the grid component (semiconductor, transformer, contactors and cables) which could damage them.
- causing an electric arc in the Contactors,
- it also represents another generator that injects a shifted current in the grid, which causes a fluctuation of grid voltage.
- the last reason, it will increase your consumption bill.
