Generally speaking, halophytes implement survival strategies that interfere with the biotic interactions. Think about filtering or secretion of excess salts, it increases the local salinity. Compartmentalization requires investment from the cells and tissues as well. The secretion, diffusion, and keeping of the native form of organic molecules in such cases would be extremely difficult. To my knowledge, there aren't many PGP that would survive while having the resources to invest in a symbiosis. That is, if we're considering them in their ecological niche. Out of it, their survival strategies become burdens that hinder their competition.
I would like to let you know that each plant system has its own PGP microbes regardless of being glycophytes or halophytes. the point that should be raised is whether the PGP microbes communities are the same or not. some papers showed that there are some differences in terms of microorganisms groups inhabiting different plants.
