Dear protein purifiers on ResearchGate,

I am sourcing opinions regarding your own experiences with ordering imidazole products for IMAC runs on ÄKTA systems. Despite claims of high purity, we (frequently) encounter background signal at 280 nm, which (could) interfere(s) with the interpretation of the chromatogram (at elution phase) - even between batches coming from the same provider.

Do you standard test a new jar/vial when it arrives in your lab? If it does show A280 signals, do you return it and ask (demand) a new batch? Do you know of any companies that let you test smaller amounts before you proceed to bigger batch purchases? Etc.

Any input is highly appreciated!

Cheers,

Kevin
