As we communicated about many times , Stanley Wilkin , there is a clear gap between data (linear paper economics) and reality (on the ground). With respect to financial forecasting, private banks and investors know much more about this reality (where to put the money?) than data collecting bureuacracies (politburo).
In this sense, the Gaussian imperative is important: the mechanical application of data formulae is not enough, one has to understand the methodical measurement idea of the formula and to interprete it in relation to the real economy and the entrepreneurial spirit of a polity.

They know the Russian economic brief blossoming is not genuine. They know that its only the militarisation and that this brief gleam will disappear in 2025 and the Russian status will drop.
I still think they're wrong and the Russian economy will not rise as the Russian problems will compete with the militarisation, the country's infrastructure will continue to degrade and bridges fall into rivers and even building's collapse. Maybe not many, but some.
Russia's resilience against Western sanctions stems largely from its boundless alliance with China; the trade volume between the two countries surged to a record $240 billion last year. To my knowledge, the IMF expects the whole momentum to fade in 2025, with Russia growing only at a rate of 1.8%. So, I do agree, Stanley Wilkin , that the IMF is playing games.
-------------
The IMF insisted that both Russia and Brazil maintain their currency at over-valued levels. Who are you protecting when you try to maintain that exchange rate by having high interest rates? You're protecting domestic and foreign firms that have gambled on the exchange rate. And who is paying the price? The small businesses that did not gamble [and no longer can afford loans], the workers who are going to be put out of jobs.
Its possible that once Russia degrades again that that will have a negative effect on China, causing further problems. Where China is concerned, several of its markets have become depressed through Russia's actions. Only a win will rescue or restore China's economy.
Agreement Stanley Wilkin . It will also depend largely on how leaders manage its (PRC) internal political economy — specifically whether the state continues to play a large role in economic decision-making. The relationship between China and the (US-led) West determines China’s access to foreign technology, finances, and markets. If leaders continue the turn away from market-oriented reform in favor of centralized decision-making, top-down planned resource allocation, and marginalizing private businesses, then productivity and economic growth will deteriorate further, e.g. high youth unemployment and the crisis of the 9-9-6 work culture are very sensible internal issues In the PRC.
Unfortunately, when economies fail to function as hoped in authoritarian countries war is turned to as a preferred option. On the one hand, the West's template of citizen wealth is referenced while authoritarian countries reject the means such wealth is acquired. Such economies rely even more on western style economies to function while active in destabilising them.
The market system is the basis of our civilization. Its only alternative is the Führer principle. Lv Mises
All that society can achieve in these fields is to provide an environment which does not put insurmountable obstacles in the way of genius’s and makes the common man free enough from material concerns to become interested in things other than mere breadwinning... the foremost social means of making a man more human is to fight poverty. Wisdom and science and the arts the way of genius and makes the common man free enough thrive better in a world of affluence than among needy peoples. Lv Mises, Human Action: A Treatise on Economics
Stanley Wilkin, You are not right. The Russian economy will grow seriously only after the end of the special operation.
Forecasts of development and growth in the coming years, the economy of Brazil and Russia, are not favorable, precisely because of Russia's Special Military Operation in Ukraine.
not my prediction. Not too happy with 'special military operation' rather than barbaric attack on Ukrainian civilians. The flooding in Russia has extended and many areas of Russia are being continually degraded. Putin is not helping in these regions, so in effect the rise in Russia's economy is a paper based mirage, certainly as the degradation of Russian infrastructure continues unabated. If the American weapons, especially ATACAMS , arrive soon the forward lines of the Russian army could be isolated and destroyed.
Stanley, You say "barbaric attack on Ukrainian civilians".
What do you call the evil of the Ukrainians in 2014, in Donbas against the inhabitants just because they speak the Russian language, just because they are Russians. The Nazis - the people of Bandera killed Russian women and children in the most monstrous way!?, what do you call it? Is that your democracy?
I have written on that and it can be read on here. I suggest you read it rather than believe Russian/Putin's lies. Before these matters occurred an FSB unit attacked a Donbas, Ukrainian, town killing citizens.
Bandera was a group attempting to rid Ukraine of Russian rule certainly as a consequence of Stalin's starvation of Ukrainian citizens and continuous killing. Their connection to the Nazis was limited but appears to have occurred as, unfortunately, they felt they had no choice. Stalin was no different to Hitler except that he targeted his own people until he was in a position to target other country's citizens after the war. Talk to citizens from Baltic countries. Putin is closer to Hitler.
Now I doubt many of the accusations you have placed on here but you have taken on board the lies of that appalling little man in the Kremlin. If you want to believe in lies rather than do research, is this the right site for you? What point is education if a man cannot use it? Putin is one of the most appalling human beings in my lifetime -as a firm believer in research, education and study.
Without a mind, you have nothing! Cities bombed, children kidnapped, thousands killed! You should be ashamed.
Stanley, dear friend, the story is one thing and the facts say another, they confirm the truth.
People like you, and the political West are pushing Ukrainians to death. Ukrainians are a good people, Slavic, Christian-believing people, but occupied by the West. The West wants to take all the resources of Ukraine: ores, minerals, fertile land....... Ukrainian officials mention the figure of 500 thousand dead Ukrainians.
It is true that Russia is defending itself. Putin fights for the rights of all citizens of the world. All of Arika and Asia see who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. The entire Muslim world is on the side of Putin and Russia.
It suits the West that all Ukrainians should be killed.
Dear my friend, Karma is warming marriages.
Do you think two men (no matter how much they make love) can have a child? Maybe you can have a child if you have sex with another man, but THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE IN RUSSIA!!!
So at the end, you say: "Apparently, the river in one of the flooded areas of Russia is carrying uranium deposits, and it supplies drinking water for hundreds of thousands".
What humane thinking, from a serious scientist from London!?!
Congratulations Mr. Stanley Wilkin, University of London scientist
Not really sure I was saying what you appear to be accusing me off (I was not) but the Russian people need to express responsibility for Putin's Russia. Putin is a criminal and a killer who has introduced extreme barbarism into the world again. The money for Russian infrastructure has been diverted to the war, and the Russian people are affected. If they stopped the war, the devastation would not be happening. Spare a thought for Ukraine? Can you? To the victims not aggressors!
You cannot insinuate against my capacity for understanding when you write about 500000 Ukrainians killed. Russian propaganda surely? Putin's gangster activity from 1991 onwards was meant to gain loyalty and develop his expanding gang by giving out large sums of money and the prospect of further riches if they continue to support him. Are you a beneficiary?
Putin appears to be destroying Russia. Are you helping him?
