Marina Valentukevičienė The great man-made river project is an amazing attempt to use brute force and classic engineering to solve desertification. It was severely damaged by allied forces in their attempt to overthrow Kadafi. Supposedly because he was involved in the Lockerbie bombing. Yet it could be easily argued that more evidence points to Iran. Since the great man-made river project was funded by oil profits that had been nationalized by Kadafi and that the major benefits of this massive irrigation project were destined to the Lybian people a skeptic could suggest that a lesson had to be taught to anyone who hurts the oil cartel and big finance. I have been taught about this and other aspects of Mega-engineering irrigating the Sahara by my graduate students. Below is the link to the lesson. Students choose one of the subjects and the following week or two they present the ideas so that we can later debate if we should irrigate the Sahara and if so how to best go about this. Ask me more specific questions for fifteen years I listened to my students so I guess I am a quasi expert
PS my grandfather Joseph 19 walked across Europe from Kaunus to Lisbon to take the boat to New York where he met my Grandmother Anna 16 in Brockton Mass. Imagine his surprise to discover that she had lived three streets away from him in Kaunus;-) Labos nakties
