Hi everyone,

I’m running an Abaqus/Explicit simulation, but I’ve noticed that my CPU usage stays around 50%, which makes the simulation run quite slowly.

Previously, all my CPU cores were being utilized and my simulations in Abaqus/Explicit were running very fast without any issues. However, now it seems that not all the cores are being used, and as a result, my simulations have become much slower.

I’d like to use closer to 95-100% of my CPU to speed things up, but I haven’t been able to figure out how and where is the problem.

Here are my PC specs:

· Laptop: ASUS ROG

· CPU: Intel Core i9-13980HX 13th Generation, 24 cores, 32 threads

· RAM: 16 GB

· OS: Windows 11

· Version: ABAQUS 2020

· Multiprocessing mode: Default (parallelisation method: domain)

What I’ve tried for solving the problem;

· Increasing number of cores when constructing the JOB in ABAQUS.

· Running with MPI, Hybrid

· Using mass and time scaling

· Power management option settings, i.e full performance and high performance

· Updating my Windows and all drivers

· Enabling Intel hyper-threading and Active all processor cores in BIOS.

· The hardware was tested using Prime95 software and all the cores were working 100%.

· I uninstalled ABAQUS2020 and installed ABAQUS2017; however, this did not resolve the issue. (When I installed ABAQUS2017, the simulation initially ran without any issues, and all CPU cores were fully utilized. However, after that, the problem returned, just like before.)

With regards
