The GE Lunar Pixmiums DEXA system is a dedicated mouse Dual Energy X-ray Absorption system for determining such bio-markers as bone mineral density, muscle mass, and fat mass. This was marketed by GE during the early 2000s. It has since been retired. I am looking for information on the file format used to save the DEXA image data and parameters. The company is not supporting this product any further. It is rumored that research community users have information on this format.
To clarify, are you just looking to pull information from Pixi files or do you have the system with the software and are having trouble analyzing? I am currently working with this system, but am not an expert on hacking data files :) The software is definitely clunky--and unless the files were analyzed after imaging, the original file data will not be accurate as the ROI is not corrected.
I'm looking to parse apart the img files. The legacy support service we use mentioned that "someone has a file header". I've not found it. It will be important for us to move onto current platforms to read previous data. Pixmus does not have an option to store image data or analysis masks in an standards format. So that's why I'm asking this question.

Have you figured out a solution to this problem? I am running into the same issue. I was hoping to get the information as a text file or CSV, so I can analyze it in R.
I've not found anything on this. We would very much like to get the format for the .img file so we can run an analysis on legacy data.
Hi Doug, I got a Dexa Image Dataset today. I tried with ImageJ raw import. I figured it out, Dexa image is 16 bit Signed, the image Sizes are 512 x 512, with a 512 bit offset for the first image, 2 images, no gat between images, and little-endian byte order. The images were imported as a stack of two images. Cheers, Shanrong
