I prefer (1) you review relevant and recent literature on the same, which will help you identify a gap....from which you'll get a worthy topic. (2). Listen from within you based on your passion, experience and the knowledge you as regards the area of study and Follow the intuitive lead.
taking into consideration your background, one topic is the reuse of muck after tunnelling and another is selection, treatment and reuse of mixed waste. In the following two reference papers.

With MS in Environmental Engineering and focus on Solid & Hazardous Waste Management, you can consider to topic: "Improvement and development deodorization technology at the waste landfill".
I'm unsure exactly what you're looking for, but you might want to consider removal of toxic wastes from soil by steam and air. I left that industry a long time ago, and there are probably many new methods by now, but this could serve as a starting point:

Hello, I am a prospective MSc Students and I have passion for nuclear energy and also solid waste management. I will be happy if I get topic suggestions on how the two can be merged as one.
With your background, probably modelling contamination from mining and its impact on shallow groundwater aquifers in specific location and mining activity in your area. Good luck.
