I'm a new doctoral student and would like to know how to access recent articles or research related to my thesis topic. Could you also point me to the most suitable websites or platforms for this purpose? Thank you in advance.
I find Google scholar to be a very useful tool. You can locate a "landmark" work in your field and then follow all of the citations to it. You can also limit the time range, such as only citations from the last 5 years.
you’re looking to access recent research articles for your thesis. Here are some useful and trusted platforms you can explore: 📚 1. Google Scholar – https://scholar.google.com Free and easy to use. You can search by topic, author, or publication. Set alerts to get notified about new papers. 📘 2. ResearchGate – https://www.researchgate.net Many researchers share full-text papers here. You can also message authors to request access. 📖 3. DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) – https://www.doaj.org This site has thousands of peer-reviewed, free-to-access research journals. 🧬 4. PubMed – https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov Very useful if your topic is related to life sciences, health, agriculture, or biotechnology. 📑 5. Your University Library Portal Check with your university – they often provide access to paid databases like ScienceDirect, Springer, JSTOR, and more for free through your student login.
Set Google scholar account to prioritise my university approved articles (to avoid AI written / quality issues).
Use citation manager like Refworks / Mendeley, they work well for citing but also search).
Lastly, your institution should have a fair library catalogue to search from with personalised librarian. With librarian you can share with them what search subject you require / need.
