If we want to choose you as minister, in an Arab country: Will you accept the offer, and what is the name of the Arab state and what is the name of the ministry.
Mohammed Noor Hassan You, my brother, put your hand on our real problem. Ethnic conflicts. Because of illiteracy, lack of awareness, poverty and the lack of democracy, we in the Middle East have become the puppet of the world, everyone plays with it
A question as to whether one is prepared to make such a choice may be honourable, but for climatic, religious, political, social and other reasons I would not make myself available for such a choice.
Hein Retter Do you think that the ministry in general does not allow people the opportunity to innovate at work, and do you think that the ministry in the Arab state, depends on ethnic considerations in the broad sense of the word.
Hijaz e Muqadas Saudia Arabia, I will accept any ministry, as I will be able to see Kaaba and Masjad Nabwi, say my prayers there, will drink Abe Zam Zam and eat Ajwa dates and my heart will be free of worldly worries and Noor of Allah Almighty will be so close to me......
For one of the highest political offices, in my opinion, professionals are best suited who have sufficient professional experience, in political life, in constitutional law and economics, in the management of a large authority under the conditions of the respective state. I would not consider a colleague from an Arab country to be suitable to hold a ministerial post in Germany, unless there are very special circumstances in the curriculum vitae of the candidates which lead to such a selection.
I know that in democratic countries it is not or not only the ability to hold office that plays a role, but also the party book, the party proportional representation or another background, which then lead to the election of such a person.
I see myself as a scientist and researcher. My strength does not lie in having to subordinate myself to the respective political requirements. I do not see that my strength lies in resisting the limits imposed by politics on a minister's room for manoeuvre. There are probably also people who say: I want a high office, I don't care about anything else.
As a scientist, I have always had the freedom of choice I needed to act optimally. You can't do that in an office in a completely different culture that requires knowledge and consideration. I assume that every scientist from a North-Eastern European country who has never lived in an Iranian country is considered a foreigner there - and rightly so.
This makes it difficult to make decisions that will benefit the people. However, I know of scientists who have worked for a long time at a university in Arab states. That is another prerequisite.
Note: This question is not just about whether one is suitable for such an office, but about whether (a) the respective state is a full democracy (b) wether one is accepted with a warm welcome of all people (also if i would be female) - considering this I hardly see a chance for that proposal. Only if one knows each other very well in one's cultural traditions, needs and peculiarities is such a proposal meaningful.
As a man who is able to both run in Jordan or Lebanon, based on my knowledge and expertise, I would be honored to accept the ministry of foreign affairs in the Lebanese or Jordanian nations. I do not have a preference, I think I can do a good job in either nations and reduce corruption.
Rabie Abdel Samad Your choice is indicative and compelling
But let me ask you: If the prime minister or the head of state wants to form external relations with regional ethnic considerations, will you accept this intervention, or you will resign?
Ahmed Mousa Badawi, to the convention of ethnic consideration, i welcome intervention of other ethnicity especially smaller groups as they seem to usually rise easier through struggle than the major ethnicity in the nation. I will accept the intervention if it is not invasive, but it is a matter of whether it is a totalitarian system that they are attempting to install or whether it is for the economic improvement purpose. (basically it is based on the leadership, if the leadership is for mutual benefits, then yes, but nonetheless it will be a Yes)
I would like to 1) hear your view and 2) know if I answered your question how you wanted it
Modernity has been able to break down ethnic considerations, and things are settled in the advanced world from all social, cultural and political aspects.
unfortunately, our generation witnesses the return of the ethnic issue on the map of conflict in a number of regions of the world, especially our region,
I understand the map of ethnic conflicts, as (1) evidence that we are still lagging behind on civilization, and that we have a false perception of citizenship. (2) The major powers in the world exploit the ethnic issue as the worst of exploitation. (3) that there are no hopeful signs yet to prove that the people of the Middle East are on their way to recovering from ethnic conflicts
Yes, I will accept. The ministry of my preference is the foreign affairs and the state which I would love to represent is Kuwait. A progressive and neutral GCC member state, that managed not to get involved in the current diplomatic rifts between Qatar on one hand and UAE and Saudi Arabia on the other hand. If given the opportunity, I would have played a leading role in mediating between the bloc.
Ahmed Mousa Badawi Thanks for your kind remarks. It is my hope to contribute change, with transformative impact to the political dynamics of the Horn of Africa, one day.
Although ethnic based politics existed during the Cold War era and most rightly in Lebanon, it has become the norm in post-cold war era, in most countries that are located in the Middle East, North and Sub-Saharan Africa. The proliferation of intra-state political violence and the ensuing states implosion is a unipolar phenomenon. United States hegemony, in the absence of a compelling peer power that enforced checks and balances in the international system, meant that the only superpower had unchallenged global authority where it acted unilaterally, with no regards for international norms, where it deemed multilateralism constrained the advancement of its interests. Once the major competitor ( USSR) was no more threat to the United States, weak states degenerated into civil and political disorder. Moreover, the unipolar period was characterized by non-state actors such as warlords, traditional power brokers, gangs and organized criminal groups, war entrepreuneurs and terrorist organizations, who all competed to fill the void that was created as a result of states failures, reasons for major powers to justify their Intervention in failed states.
The power gap is now closing fast and the era of multipolar world is increasingly getting momentum. China and Russia, dubbed as “rising powers’ by the academic community have recently been assertive. Russia has recently challenged the US in two geopolitical fronts: Ukraine and Syria. China has challenged the US in South China Sea and is increasingly becoming assertive.
Consequently, I have observed that the US has began to adapt to the multipolar world system and is proactively discouraging ethnic-based politics in failed and fragile states. This is positive step towards stabilization in conflict ridden states. The fear that China or Russia might advance their influences in such countries is driving the US to stabilize them. It has empoowered the states and indirectly abandoned substate actors, a strategy aimed at discouraging ethnicity and non state variables and in turn strengthening state institutions. Furthermore, to that end, the US has initiated and facilitated talks between talks between non-state actors and the weak, fragile or failed states. A good example is the on-going talks between the government of Afghanistan and Taliban movement.
Multipolarity is more dangerous than Unipolarity.or even bipolarity as major world wars were fought during multipolar world system. Competition is fierce during multipolarity and the desire to challenge the dominant power by an alliance of great powers, who are upset with the status quo (existing power distribution) is highest during this time. We might be heading for a power transition period however, in the short term’ ethnic based politics and non-state actors’ will have no role in states affairs as the political environment which brought them to existence is gradually diminishing.

I would love to be sent to help a foreign nation. China, Russia, Italy, France, Africa, England or an Arab state. I would like to teach the Christian American beliefs and customs. Along with the Bible, I would like to share our food, our attire, our language, our presidents, our holidays we celebrate just the culture and beliefs of the Christian American. I don't know which Arab state I would want to go to, but the movies of America always are showing Egypt over here. So I think I would like to go to Egypt.
