We are planning to do whole genome sequencing of a plant and have to send our samples to a respective foreign company to do that. In that case, we afraid to send the extracted DNA sample due to degradation possibility. Therefore, we may send the leaf sample instead of DNA sample. Our leaf samples are stored at -20 degree. My query is-

1. Is that okay to preserve leaf sample for genome sequencing at -20 degree? If not, what will be the appropriate procedure to collect/ preserve leaf sample?

2. What is the procedure to transport leaf sample for genome sequencing from one country to another and what conditions should be followed?

3. Which one is better for transportation - Leaf sample or DNA samples?

Looking for expert opinions.
