Furthermore, if there is a signal that the virus obtains, would it be possible to synthetically mimic this signal thus make the virus release the DNA randomly, hence making it unable to attach to a host in order to replicate?

I am still very new to this concept. I know that not every Virus uses transduction to invade a host cell, but I wonder if there is a way to target this specific characteristic of certain viruses and make it their weakness.

For basic context to the question I might add that it is clear to me that Viruses bind to specific receptors on the host cell and just transfer genetic information via endocytosis. My question is aimed to understand what triggers the release of genetic information if they themselves can't actually interact or react to their surroundings.

The only rational conclusion I have been able to acquire by thought alone, was that the host cell itself initiates the interaction and almost sucks it out of the capsid. But as much I would like to believe this, I find it a quite unsatisfactory conclusion as I myself can't rationally explain the steps of this hypothesis.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance.
