I used magnetic water as a treatment in some plant species. After applying treatment I found that Na+ uptake and Na+/k+ ratio was decreased as compared to control plants.is it good effects for my plant species?
Yes , very much , reduction in Na/K ratio means , the toxic effect of Na is reduced due to stoichiometric replacement of Na by K. If K concentration is increased , we need simultaneously higher N as well to maintain the nutrient balance between N and K . This is how , it will lead to beneficial effect on plant growth and development ..
This also cannot be directly related to any beneficial effect. For some halophytes, very high NaCl (> 500 mM) results in severely depressed growth due to hormonal downregulation, but still Na/K ratio is further reduced with increasing substrate NaCl in parallel to extreme increase in NO3 accumulation.
