if i used polymer or composite as coating for metal or alloy when i calculate the corrosion current by tafel extrapolation we need density and equivalent weight for calculation
in this case density and equivalent weight considered for metal or alloy which used as working electrode or for polymer used for coating

You will use the apparent surface area in contact with the electrolyte. If you have almost matching of the polymer/composite and the current collector you are using, then they both have the same apparent surface area.
For the little difference of the polymer/composite (being a little higher surface area than the current collector), I will take this surface area (polymer/composite) only if they are stable and not changing of the surface area while I am doing the electrochemical measurement.
