I am preparing to conduct a study about dissonance tolerance in music and art. I plan to put up posters around my university campus as well as some art galleries and music venues in the city. I am looking to find people who would be interested in a project that concerns music and art therefore it can't be just "anybody" between 18 and 40, but this is obvious due to the fact that only interested parties will agree to take part in the study. What is the name of this sampling method?

you would be using a "nonprobabilistic sample" or "convenience sample".

Purposive sampling, it is a form of non-probability sampling in which decisions concerning the individuals to be included in the sample are taken by the researcher, based upon a variety of criteria which may include specialist knowledge of the research issue, or capacity and willingness to participate in the research.
