do i cite them or not. the table that i have made does not exist in the book, i have just adapted their theory to explain my research group in a table/figure format.
I suggest that you add at the end of the caption's table something like this: (Table is based on information provided by xxx, year) or (Table is based on our interpretation on information provided by xxxx, year). For a figure taken from someone else's paper things have to be handled differently. If you have taken a figure from other author, you have to ask permission to the author or to the owner of the copy rights. However, if you have redrawn a figure from someone else and make some modifications to the figure, then you should write at the end of the caption: (modified from XXXX, year).
