I would - together with a co-worker, probably - write the editorial, but I would not take the opportunity to publish a paper in it, unless it was right on the mark - and maybe even then I would hesitate. The editor shall not take such opportunities.

In Korea, a section editor published more than 10 papers in the special issue he organized; thus, he was rigorously criticized by his colleagues.

It is possible for the section editor to publish his/her papers in a special issue; however, one or two papers only is desirable, I think.

I suspect that those papers were not even refereed well enough. Such practice borders on fraud, and should *not* be allowed.
