Ideal Sample size to perform mRNA expression studies on clinical samples (Diabetic Neuropathy)?

I have initiated the study with 3 cases and 3 controls for gene expression among Peripheral diabetic neuropathy subjects.

Dr. Ayyappa,

this sounds like a very small number. You´ll have to perform a strength/power assessment/calculation. Based on data from similar studies you should be able to calculate the needed sample size to avoiding a type 2 error.
