i have 20 meter slope, after Kinematic analysis i got the wedge form from that slope. my question is , can i calculate factor of safety a single slope if i want to make bench high 5 meter ( need 4 bench coz the high is 20 meter) , iam confused coz I want to calculate factor of safe in single slope , and my kinematic for 20 meter wedge form. i use short solution wedge form (limit equilibrium) to calculate FOS, its quarry mining. When you have four benches in the slope, you need to calculate the stability of these four slopes separately. Since the formation of wedge is influenced by the bench dimensions, you need to make sure that the wedge is not forced to form within the bench slope, which will underestimate the wedge dimensions. In this assumption the best way is to use 3DEC Code by considering joints network and their variability. But if safety factor calculation is necessary, you can analysis critical blocks in Swedge software.
As there are 4benches of 5 meter height, so calculate the FOS separately for each bench because of different behavior of each bench. Also calculate the shear strength and shear strength parameters for individual bench and then FOS
