During my data collection I used an instrument (questionnaire) administered through a survey carried out face-to-face with some open-ended questions that require a narrative answers. The open-ended questions were included based on my chosen research method (mixed methods) which is compatible with critical realism strand of research philosophy. However, after the survey I read an article written by Bryman (2006) 'integrating quantitative and qualitative research: how is it done?' In the article he explained that data obtained through survey fall into quantitative research method irrespective of the nature of the responses. So, I'd like to know whether my chosen research philosophy (critical realism) is well-matched or I've to change to positivism strand of research philosophy since my research is no longer a mixed methods research.
