I would like to evaporate C60 in a chamber where we already evaporate other materials (PbI2...). Is there any risk of contamination? What are the precautions to take?
Yes, it can definitely a cause cross contamination problem. To prevent this, you could use a thin steel stainless shield around the chamber, so it can be removed for cleaning after the evaporation.
When you deal with evaporation, it is always helpful to use a setup in which you can sandblast contaminated shielding parts. If you sandblast a chamber in which PbI2 was handled, make sure to wear proper protection from the lead dust.
Alternatively, you could e.g. introduce evaporation material-assigned steel rings (assuming your chamber is round) which you can swap when you change to a different evaporand.
For the crucible of your source, I would recommend a similar strategy.
