I was wondering how many ResearchGate participants know about Addgene? We are a non-profit plasmid repository. We store, QC, and archive plasmids from all over the world (>15,000 in our library). I've used Addgene in the past and I think it's great. There are a lot of ego-driven collaborators out there who are unwilling to share supplies, DNA, etc, despite having already published the data. This is an excellent (not to mention cheap!) way to obtain plasmids, I just wish more people knew about it.
Its an excellent and very helpful collection bank for DNA clones and plasmids. We got many genes this year from addgene that were very difficult to clone from cDNA. We saved lots of gene synthesis cost. I will recommend all researchers to deposit plasmids after publication. it might save cost and time for comming generations.
