I want to see the process that how Social Science teachers announce the homework, how do they explain homework and how students take it. I want o understand the dialogue and dynamics of this process between teacher and students.
For your research questions raised so generally and the use of the word "how" I think that the best approach to your research would be of qualitative nature. Already within this perspective you have several options. If you want the maximum expansion of ideas you can make focus groups with students and teachers. If you want deep understanding you should use in-depth interviews.
I think it also depends upon the subjects. They way of Geography teachers giving homework may vary with other social science subjects, such as Psychology or Political Science. I am not sure what particular point do you want to know. Anyway, I think you should focus more on the functional perspective. In general, your approach should be in qualitative realm. Good luck.
Dear Zin Nwe Myint , your have raised the right point that the dynamics of homework may differ according to the subject teachers of geography, political science, history etc. But I didn't find any study yet on social science homework at secondary level of schooling. Therefore, first of all, I want to see the over all realities of social science homework, and after that ground work, I may plan to study the homework given in different subjects under social sciences. Also, I found in schools that one teacher is teaching 2, 3 subjects of social sciences. Therefore, I took social sciences collectively.
Dear Monica Stevens , thank you for the encouragement. Can you please provide me some detailed insights about studying the homework given in social sciences?
