Our lab bought a qtrap 6500+ coupled with ESI sorgent and UHPLC. I know that instrument is exelent for target proteomic, but i want to know if it can be used for proteomic discovery.
It's certainly less well suited to discovery experiments when compared to something like a 6600, but you could do it, with conditions. You'd need to be aware of the limitations in comparison, such as reduced mass accuracy and I doubt it would be as sensitive in IDA type experiments. Like everything, it will depend on your sample type and what you are trying to investigate. For less complex samples you might be able to use it. I would not recommend it for complex samples.
Thank you for your answer. I want to use this instrument for identification and quantification of biomarker in endometrial carcinoma interstitial fluid and in identification of dysregulated proteins in leiomyoma tissue. What recommandation to me?
