I want to know if a qtrap 6500+ coupled with uhplc and ESI sorgent is used for proteomic discovery?

Our lab bought a qtrap 6500+ coupled with ESI sorgent and UHPLC. I know that instrument is exelent for target proteomic, but i want to know if it can be used for proteomic discovery.
