I tried using ASTER DEM and topographic map to identify the feature but cannot determine their extent. Kindly tell me what DIGITAL Image processing I can apply in an image to identify pediments and buried pediments. Can anybody give NRSC guidelines for identifying features?

You may find this helpful. I have not tried this myself. If ground surface detail becomes important due to dense overstory trees, you might try LiDAR as a tool to make a more detailed DEM.

It is very simple. You can derive geomorphological/morphometrical features from any DEM data using GIS software or any other free available software. From DEM data, you can derive slope, slope angle, aspect (slope direction) by using relevant tool in GIS.

I am not sure how to map buried geomorphic features from images.
We routinely map a range of geomorphic features from satellite images by looking for clues . For example highly dissected, and eroded landforms may indicate a lithological control, which means you can map geological boundaries. Even changes in the vegetation cover may be used to map soil types, and possibly bedrock.
I think Image processing can cleanup things for us, but, we have to first map the features in our head (this is very important) and then we may use various tool to assist in that hunt.
Aster DEMs are quite good, and could be used to map many geomorphic features.
