Usually GC/MS is employed when you want to look at individual fatty acids coming from phospholipids (or lipids in general).

Isopropanol would be a solvent that is LC/MS friendly as well as lipid friendly. Something to try perhaps?

MeOH and ACN "should" work as well unless you are wanting to dissolve your lipids in a mixture with high Water content, then you are always going to have trouble.

Have you tried dissolving your lipids in a small volume of 100% organic and then diluting that with the final mixture of solvents that you want to use?

That is fine as long as you are ok with analyzing the FFAs and not the intact phospholipids as they will most likely thermally degrade before their vapor pressure becomes high enough to pass through the GC column.

Thank you Dr Smarason from your insight. As I am mainly concern with knowing the phospholipid compositions (PC, PE, PI and PA), I can understand that it may be difficult to use GC, so may be I have to limit myself to using HPLC for that.

There are HPLC methods but I think they use an ELSD or CAD detectors since phospholipids have a very poor UV spectrum (thus you can't use a PDA or DAD). Check the AOCS (Association of Oil Chemists Society) website since they may have a method you can adapt in their lipid library.
