What are the culprits? I test OCP analysis for a radial distribution system with 2 capacitor canditates and 10 buses but it takes forever to finish. The "Calculation in progress" window just wouldn't disappear. I've testes in 2 computers and nothing different happened.
Is the load flow analysis simulation done, sometimes it's some missing informations that make the calculation looping indefinitely
However, it depends upon the systems compatibility with ETAP but I think there wouldn't be any problem if load is static and fixed size capacitor is used. Check the connectivity of each bus with the source node. For more detail for optimal capacitor paper one can refer the following article,
