Strategic thinking is rarely combined with procedural thinking.
To focus on strategy, we must have to think strategically,
Now how do you think strategically?
We need to order several of the most important ones.
First thought systems (make each issue have inputs, processes and outputs),
second out cognitive models by reframing ideas, and what I think Francis Bacon separated in the four idols.
Then we need to work hard on the scenarios to anticipate,
and fourthly, we will create flexibility through which we define strategic intentions.
Steve Jobs once said, “If you want to make everyone happy, don’t be a leader, sell ice cream”.
There are four types of people in the world:
Those who want to liked
Those who want to be right
Those who want to be comfortable and
Those who want to win
To be a leader is to forget about being liked, right and comfortable and focusing on transforming into a person who wants to win.
When you are a leader you are forced to make the tough decisions for the tribe. Ultimately, someone will always be unhappy, but overall the group will be better after you make your tough decisions.
If you want to be a leader and win, you must give up your need to be liked, your need to be right and your need to be comfortable.
“Big Agile” requires leadership at all levels, just not the kind we are used to. Simply working with an agile coach to implement well-known ceremonies is not enough. Metaphorically, the leadership “operating system” needs an upgrade.
