I am using Oxford Instruments AFM for measuring Lateral Forces. My recorded data are mainly friction loop curves in ".ibw" format. Is it possible to use free software to open these recorded friction loop curves? I also want to export the recorded data in each friction loop or force-distance curves to plot them using MATLAB. I want to use MATLAB because I think I can use MATLAB to make figures better than any other software.
Gwyddion should be able to open your files. If you don't like the figures it makes you can export as text files for MATLAB if you prefer.

Hi, For analysis of force-distance curves you might like to check out AtomicJ which accepts ibw files among others. AtomicJ (by Paweł Hermanowicz) can be downloaded free of charge from SourceForge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/jrobust/). It allows batch processing of FDCs. I used it a lot for analysis of FDCs measured by a Multimode but would expect that it works equally well with ibw files. Hope this helps. Best, Martin
