It's always lovely to hear good news and especially when it is the result of hard work paying off. May you find much happiness not only in your success in this achievement, but also in working within the role that you are stepping into.
Congratulations Nisar K S! It is always great to hear such wonderful news from a fellow Researchgate member. I am elated and extremely excited for you!

In most cases API is used as a standard parameter in the academic world. In contemporary world there is lot of emphasis on industry outcomes. In cases wherein you have been employed with the corporate world your expertise can be used for Executive Development Programmes as most of those enrolled are from the industry and want more live discussions. As MOOCS is already popular the industry expertise can used for 'Content Development' . Today there is lot of focus on developing courses for 'Working Executives' and 'Consultancy Projects' apart from regular teaching so I am sure taking a sabbatical to work in the industry is a win-win situation for all. It should in no way hamper your level/ stature in the academic community.
