Key is to get published in best journal possible. Key to that is to assist one of your professors with their research. Ask what has to be done to verify or further the life work of one of your teachers. They will guide you, support you, edit your work, sponsor you, and take an interest in your career. If you pick your own topic that does not align with professors' fields of research you will get cursory attention, a lack of support, and a hard climb up the hill to get published. Its all about networking- its time to join a network and contribute to its goals and let it raise you up. Choose wisely.
