It is indeed frustratingly difficult to find specific antibodies for CB1. We tested a panel of commercial antibodies and none detected CB1 specifically; the only ones we've found to be selective were produced by Ken Mackie's lab - see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18406468. Even still there is potential for differences in specificity between lots of antibody, so you need to run appropriate controls even if a previous lot of the "same" antibody has been validated.
I suggest using a free antibody database available at labome.com. For antibodies to CB1 receptor for IHC you can use the following link: https://www.labome.com/review/gene/human/CNR1-antibody.html. Invitrogen provides rabbit polyclonal PA1-743 abs suitable for IHC on both rat and mouse samples (ref: López-Gallardo et al., J Neuroendocrinol. 2015). Abcam has rabbit polyclonal ab23703 also suitable for IHC both rat and mouse samples (Meng et al., Int J Clin Exp Pathol. 2014). Santa Cruz Biotechnology has rabbit polyclonal (H-150) sc-20754 suitable for IHC (ref: de Lartigue et al., Mol Metab. 2014).
