Attached is the picture of Tube furnace. I tried cleaning with acetone but didn't go off. Any product you want to recommend for cleaning it? Thank you very much!
I guess you are using your tube furnace to decompose some organic substances. In most of the case acetone or alcohol will not help in cleaning the quartz tube, so if you wish you can try with dilute acids and then rinsing with water. You can try HCl or nitric acid in the beginning. Later you can use mix of them.
I have used wood ash made into a paste with dilute washing-up liquid, with great success, in cleaning similar deposits off my woodburning stove. Try it.
Pay attention, it might look to you like dirt but it might also be the glass breaking. It happened to me. If you are firing a substance that contains KOH, it's definitely a sign of break. Good luck.
1. It would be reasonable to try a variety of acids and. bases of various concentrations in combination with a physical scrubbing with a brush pipe, in the case that the product on the walls of polar. However, all the oxides dissolved in said holding means, or when their solubility is too small.
2.If the preliminary procedure does not work, you can try to continue with surfactants, namely the cleaning agents in cold then hot water in combination with natural cleaning with a brush for pipes (various oxides are more soluble in some cold, some hot water).
If you've etched the surface with a caustic substance, then there's no hope. Replace the tube. If organic, an oxygen plasma etch would be another variant if you have access to an appropriate piece of equipment. Chromic acid would be another classic material for cleaning glassware.
