Grains such as barley, corn, sorghum, etc. are being sprouted and fed to livestock. Is this an economical alternative compared to concentrate feed? In light that tropical countries that do not grow these grains in large quantities, it would have to be imported and therefore a cost incurred.
Yes, you will pay a premium on feed concentrate over and above the cost of importing the grain. You get a much better feed from sprouted grains than just the grain. But why would you not use a tropical seed? Or a rapidly growing fodder crop like leuceana?
Pothos is one creeper that can be grown even in sewage & all types of fresh waters,being edible both by humans & all milch animals.It's growth rate is quite good,& it can be propagated by stem cuttings & takes root easily.I have tried this as one of the feed for milch animals & works well enough. Fish ensilage can be added to feed mix,which provides nutrients to these animals,improving their health,thereby lessening demand to an extent on green fodder.
