Removal of bone and muscle over the back of the spinal canal at T9 & T10 creates a cavity during a laminectomy prior to opening the dura to remove a schwannoma tumor.  What steps if any would you take to fill that cavity before closing the outer wound?  Or would you leave the cavity resulting from the laminectomy and close the outer wound?  As there is no tissue nearby to fill in the space.
