We have Calcium Hydroxide dried sludge in huge quantity as a waste material. How we can make it as an effective soil conditioner. What process you can suggest to convert this waste to an effective soil conditioner. It’s pH >12.5 and EC is >10.
Gaurav Singh Use sulfur to bring down the pH use 3 volumes of clean straw as brown material mix and water and compost in pille of over 2 meter width and 1 meter heigth. Water the mixture till it moist not sopping and then turn your piles monthly for 6 months this should resolve the pH and salt issues but test the material for its characters. When compost is mature it will no longer heat when turned. Use an thermometer to monitor the temperature dynamic.
Such a material can be used for the treatment of Acid Rock/Mine Drainage in mine site remediation. See https://www.imwa.info/piramid/files/PIRAMIDGuidelinesv10.pdf for instance.
