(i) Invite leading international academics to visit for conference, workshop and seminar presentations;

(ii) Encourage domestic academics and graduate research students to travel to leading international institutions for networking and to participate in conferences, workshops and seminars;

(iii) Encourage domestic academics and graduate research students to collaborate on research with leading international academics.

The Canadian Ministry of Education has been generous, at least in previous years, in providing funding for higher education to applicants from emerging economies.

The EU and UN also have programs that are directed specifically to applicants from such countries.

I have received funds from the Canadian Government when I applied from Australia, from the EU when I applied from The Netherlands, from The Netherlands when I applied from Australia, from Taiwan when I applied in Taiwan, from South Africa when I applied from Taiwan, from Japan when I applied from Australia, and from Brazil when I applied from Australia.

I regret that I have no experience in applying for funds when I applied from an emerging economy or a developing country.
