How valid are the results obtained from Proprietary Gas detectors (O2, NO2, CO2) for use in experimental research. What other methods can be utilized?

I am conducting a research on the use of biocover materials for use in mitigating Landfill gas emissions and require real time monitoring of the concentrations of gases within the lab scale system.

I am considering the use of MSA's Altair 5X and want to know if there is any other way to carry out the measurement.

I don't get the point why you are concern about the validity of gas detector results that if it can be used in research. If the instrument if properly calibrated, I don't see any reason why it should not be valid. Also, you can use other specific detectors or GS for the more accurate results.
