G'day Vivek --- To look for fungi the simplest approach might be to try targetting the cell wall. So you could try a silver method such as Grocott methenamine [hexamine] silver, as described in a histopathological staining manual such as Bancroft's Theory and Practice of Histological Techniques. Or you could try a fluorescent stain such as Calcoflor White M2R, with methods described in manuals such as Kiernan's Histological and Histochemical Methods I think.
