Have you put the two subroutines in the same Fortran file? Abaqus automatically check for the required user-defined subroutines from a unique Fortran file provided when submitting the analysis. If one of them is not working maybe there is something wrong in the input file when you define a user-defined command.

I am trying both subroutines and python script but ideas on the internet are not working. Or is there any way to use element set defined using script in a subroutine?
