I am currently proceeding with the frequency reconfigurable antennas. I am stuck at the point of placing a diode.
I find it difficult to place a diode on the patch. Could any one help out in proceeding with this in CST 2012 version.
Can you please provide a detailed procedure to perform this. Range of Frequency I have planned to work on is from 2 GHz to 6 GHz.

Im not sure if v.2012 has a diode as lumped element, like more recent versions. If it does, just place the Lumped element on its position on the patch antenna and assign it as a diode.
Dont forget that a diode has to be either on or off, so bias should be provided. In that sense, doing two simulations, with simple resistors (one ON and other OFF, small/low resistance) might be simpler at the beginning. The diode capacitance should be added too. That would be easier than getting a true diode.
Other alternative may be placing a discrete port on the diode terminals, in the MWS canvas, and later in the Design Studio interface place the diode model (spice for instance) in the same port number, one terminal grounded. It will represent the diode across the discrete port on the 3D model.

I have been working on PIN diodes with Planar antennas as well, and I use CST where we can use lumped components option and for different states of PIN diodes, we can select values of Resistance and Capacitance based on characteristics.
Natural resonance frequency, omega(o) = 1 / (LC)^(1/2)
But, PIN diode works as a Zener diode, so it will start during reverse bias, and in other half cycle, it will be off. so, you will have provide some biasing voltage for keeping it ON state always.
