I am interfacing NetSim (https://www.tetcos.com) and SUMO for VANET simulations. In SUMO Netedit is a Road network editor for the road traffic simulation in SUMO. I want to know how to use this
SUMO NetEdit utility and randomtrips.py to configure road traffic models and then interface it with NetSim
1. Open netedit from /bin and select File-->New Network. Refer: "http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/NETEDIT#Edit_Modes" for additional info
2. Enable the check boxes "chain" and "two-way"
3. Click on blank white area to create edges, clicking again will create a new edge which will automatically get connected to the previous edge
6. Select "(t) Traffic Lights" from the drop down. Select the junctions and click on Create TLS button on the left to add Traffic Signal to it.
7. Select "(c) Connect" from the drop down. Select the lanes and ensure connectivity between them.
8. Create a new folder and save the network file(*.net.xml) say with a name network.net.xml
9. Open command prompt with the current working directory as the folder where you have saved the network file
10. Using randomtrips.py utility present in /tools directory create trips file with the command
>"C:\sumo-0.32.0\tools\randomTrips.py" -n "network.net.xml" -e 2 --route-file "trips.xml"
11. Create a SUMO configuration file (*sumo.cfg) which points to the network and trips file, in your folder which contains the network and route file.
12. Open SUMO and then open this SUMO Scenario via NetSim and simulate
I have an add on questions, how does one get the following parameters during runtime in NetSim when interfacing with SUMO:
- vehicle speed
- vehicle direction
- vehicle position
- current time
The parameters such as Vehicle Position(X,Y) and current time can be obtained from NetSim Variables:
DEVICE_POSITION(pstruEventDetails->nDeviceId)->X
DEVICE_POSITION(pstruEventDetails->nDeviceId)->Y
pstruEventDetails->dEventTime
The parameters such as vehicle speed, vehicle direction and vehicle position are associated to SUMO and can be obtained by using TraCI API's
Thanks Shubham. I now understood how to get the position and event time, in NetSim.
Can you elaborate more on how to use the TraceCI APIs for vehicle direction?

Abhishek Tayal .. Dear Sir i am able to create .a net file and then .trips file using the python command but i am not been able to configure the same map in omnet++
