I was hit by rheumatoid arthritis whilst involved in immunoparasitological research at Cambridge University Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine.

The first step is to consider that food groups may be causing the 'autoimmune' disease. The second step is to remove the offending food group(s) from the diet. Identifying the causal food group(s) can be done by fasting and then testing small groups of food in different combinations or by standard exclusion dieting methods.

The foods must be considered in terms of their biological nature and often milk allergy includes: yoghurt, cheeses, whey products, casein and other isolates, but also beef and beef derived fats and other products... in fact all foods of bovine origin. For example, my rheumatoid arthritis was caused by all foods from the grass family, including: wheat, barley, oats, rice, bamboo shoots, sugar cane and cane sugar, etc. I have avoided all these for over 38 years and have changed from registered disable arthritic wreck to healthy, active 74 year old taking absolutely no pharmaceuticals. Over about ten years my joints recovered and rebuilt without any additional treatment but continued abstention.

My first book about the origin of some autoimmune diseases 'The Kindness of Human Milk' was published several years after I had cleared rheumatoid arthritis from my own system and helped a work colleague to clear his asthma by applying similar principles. Shibabrata Pattanayak will be pleased to know that no pharmaceuticals are required or used in these cures.

The book describes the part played by infant nurture in causing disease symptoms throughout life and explains how such illness can be passed from mother to child in a Lamarckian fashion by the transfer of antibodies across the placenta during the third trimester and possibly through the colostrum postnatally.

I am currently working on a second book exploring these concepts in greater detail.

In 1996 - I came to know that one 2-month-old child (male) was suffering severe respiratory distress just after breastfeeding. By exclusion method (as you told), it was identified that the child was allergic to all kinds of milk, including his mother's breast milk.

An alternative arrangement of food was performed for the child and now he is a young fellow!

In the case of 'autoimmune' disease, avoidance of offending foods is more significant than the prescription of palliative medicines, whether natural products or chemically derived pharmaceuticals.

In India many neonates were fed on formula milk produced in the USA or in Europe from the milk of Bos taurus. The milk most commonly consumed in later life will have come from water buffalo Bubalus bubalis or from the native cow Bos indicus. All the inflammatory pathways in any autoimmune diseases will be reduced. Life style modification through regular exercise and maintenance of body mass index will be helpful.
