Durability is a general concept. you first need to define the characteristics you are looking for in your fiber reinforced polymer composites. For example, are you interested to see how the permeability of your systems change? Then, you can utilize various tests such as chloride permeability, water absorption, gas permeability, or electrical resistivity to assess permeability.
Durability could be interpreted as different characteristics. At North Dakota State University, we have been involved with development of natural fiber reinforced composites. we have mainly focused on long-trem behavior of mentioned composites related to creep deformation, also, when these composites are exposed to weather for a long period of time (i.e. UV and moisture exposure). I have attached some of our publications for you to read. you can find more publications in this area on my profile. You might not be particularly interested in bio-based composites, but the concept is the same.
Please let me know if you had any questions or needed more information.

Void content/porosity, delamination, matrix cracks and impact damage are just some of the composite material defects. These defects need to be identified and characterised for determination of the ‘quality’ of a composite structure, as these parameters have a significant effect on the mechanical properties of the material and can act as failure initiation points .The first new vacuum shouk techniques, total void fraction and can analyse individual void size, shape and distribution.
