How to test for bending and shear capacity of FRP confined reinforced concrete column in the laboratory which is not equipped well with testing frames? Is it possible to have four point bending test and adjust for axial load affect i.e. the axial load lower strain in tension reinforcement and higher in compression which is not the case for beam.
Column with short end-corbels you can simply test in press with great punch die distance. FRP confining has sence only for columns compressed with relatively low eccentricity and that test allows it, on the other side there could be difficult to apply shear.
Under four point loading you will be testing the column under shear and moment (between the support and point load) and in pure bending between the two applied loads.
On the other hand, casting the column with end corbels, can allow you to apply axial force and bending moment. Attention is needed: if the loading plate rotates, then a horizontal force is induced.
