What are the ideal methods to evaluate the toughening mechanisms of non brittle engineering materials such as aluminium and titanium based nanocomposites?

Actually it is not my field. But I can give some advice.
The toughness is depends on the ratio of Al and Ti in the composite.
Also the crytallite sie of the nanocomposites.
You can try to make as nano as, then try for thoughness experiment.
Prof B.S. Murty, IIT Madras, is the expert in this field. I worked with him few years back. You can contac with him...might be help you in this regard.

By conducting an ASTM impact test on samples of aluminium and titanium based nanocomposites. The test can be a function of the titanium nanoparticles content in the aluminium.
