I have precipitated bioemulsifier from a bacterial source using acetone and partially purified it by dialysis and lyophilization. The product post lyophilization is insoluble in water and many organic solvents. The solvents tested for solubility other than water were ethanol, methanol, acetone, chloroform, benzene, hexane, DMSO, PBS (pH 7), dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, octanol, diethyl ether, chloroform:methanol (1:1) and chloroform:methanol (3:1). Can someone suggest what could the possible reason for insolubility and a suitable solvent for dissolution?
